The Difference Between Knowing and Overthinking

Wisdom speaks once, and clearly

When thought becomes a loop

Careful thought is a gift. But turning the same fear over and over, with nothing new to learn, is not thought. It is the mind circling a door it is afraid to open. Busy as it feels, it leaves us more tired and no wiser.

Wisdom builds a house

“Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars.” Sophia does not circle. She builds. In Proverbs she sets her table and sends out her invitation. Her knowing has a shape you can live in.

Knowing has a different texture

Overthinking is loud and fast, and it repeats itself. Knowing is quieter. It often arrives whole, in a moment of stillness, and it does not need to argue.

Sometimes it is uncomfortable, because it asks something of you. That is often how you can tell it apart.

A woman’s right to her own judgment

Many women learn to explain every decision until others approve of it. Counsel can be precious. But not every voice has equal authority over your life. A choice about your own time may need nothing more than a courteous word.

Sophia stands at the gate and speaks. She does not wait for the crowd’s permission.

Practice

Sit in silence for a few minutes and let the circling of the mind slow on its own.

Bring Sophia before you as a woman of light standing in a doorway, her house of seven pillars behind her.

Ask her your question once, only once. Then wait, without reaching. Notice what comes first and quietly, before the arguing begins, and write it down in one sentence.

If nothing comes, that too is an answer: not yet.

A QUESTION TO CARRY

If you stopped asking everyone else, what would you already know?

Sophia is arriving soon

Her sanctuary is being prepared. Until she is ready, sit with one of the goddesses who is open today and draw a card in her world.
